Keswick Launch

Keswick Launch sails in the third largest Lake in Cumbria. It is unusual in that it has four islands dotted along its length. Use the launch to explore the lake and surroundings stopping at one of our jetties, leading to excellent walks or stopping to visit a tea room. The cruise is 50 minutes shuttle to Hawse End and back is also currently in operation. We also offer rowing and motor boats to hire, for you to explore at your own pace.

Whinlatter Forest

Whinlatter Forest, England’s only true mountain forest, is home to stunning views, fantastic walks, awesome running trails, exhilarating mountain biking, rare wildlife and adventure play, offering something for everyone. Experience a tree-top high ropes adventure, or explore the forest by Segway, with Go Ape. Cyclewise, the onsite bike shop, provides bike hire and a range of skills courses. A visit isn’t complete with a trip to Cafe Ambio for a tasty snack – choose from full hot meals to a quick snack from the takeaway hatch.

Don’t miss the brand-new Wow trail, showcasing not only the story of Whinlatter but also highlighting the fantastic Lake District World Heritage site. Soak up stunning landscapes from the viewpoint overlooking Skiddaw and Bassenthwaite Lake, reconnect with nature in the wildlife hide and even try a spot of forest bathing under the trees! Designed for as many as possible, the Wow trail is also accessible by off-road mobility scooter (tramper) – hire in advance from our friends at Outdoor Mobility.

Park Games at Cafe HNW

Tennis, bowls and putting fans can find their happy place in Upper Fitz Park.

Cafe HNW operates the park games at the site. There are five grass tennis courts available to hire for singles or doubles, as well as multiple rinks for lawn bowls. The park is also home to an 18-hole putting course. All equipment is available to hire.

And you can get fuel for your game, or find post-play refreshment, at the cafe, which has indoor and outdoor seating.

The cafe is cycling friendly, with bike racks to securely store your bike and a repair station with a pump and every tool a cyclist may need.

Cafe HNW will be open daily from 10am to 6pm throughout July and August.
